Yes on 2 Adds Another $1 Million to its 8-Figure Advertising Blitz, Expanding to Statewide TV Markets + Adding Radio
Building on grassroots momentum, the campaign launches a new 30 second spot in Boston, adds TV in Springfield + Providence, and Bilingual Radio in final push before Election Day
BOSTON (October 22, 2024) Today, the Committee for High Standards Not High Stakes added another million dollars to its eight-figure statewide advertising campaign, expanding into the Springfield and Providence markets on TV, launching a new TV ad in Boston, and adding bilingual radio advertisements statewide.
The new ad launching today in the Boston market features social studies teacher Maureen Morelli from Everett, Mass., discussing why using a one-size-fits-all MCAS test as a make-or-break graduation requirement “makes no sense.”
Yes on 2’s current ads Future First and Our Kids will expand to launch in the Springfield and Providence markets today, while two new 1-minute radio ads in English and Spanish begin airing on stations across the commonwealth as well.
“Teachers, parents, elected leaders and voters all around the state are rallying around Yes on 2 and working hard to eliminate the harmful and ineffective MCAS graduation requirement. Our advertising efforts will amplify the great work happening on the ground and help convince any undecided Bay Staters to vote Yes on 2 as they head to the ballot box,” said Deb McCarthy, a K-12 teacher of 25 years and Vice President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA).
In the final weeks before the election, the Yes on 2 coalition continues to grow and the campaign has gained significant momentum with over 75 MA elected officials, 50 grassroots organizations, 36 municipalities, 20 business leaders and countless volunteers joining the effort.
“117,000 educators from around the state chose to make this effort to eliminate the MCAS graduation our top priority for 2024 because of the real harm it does to students, teachers, schools and our standards. We’re leaving no stone unturned in this campaign, and with this expanded advertising effort we’ll ensure every voter has heard about what’s at stake with ballot question 2 and why the MCAS graduation requirement must be replaced,” said Max Page, President of the MTA.
