CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE: Yes on 2 Campaign Launches First Ad Urging Voters to “Say Yes” to Maintaining High Education Standards By Replacing MCAS Graduation Requirement

27 August 2024

The 30 second spot, backed by a six-figure ad buy, is the first in an anticipated 8-figure advertising campaign spanning broadcast and digital media

BOSTON (August 27, 2024) Today, the Committee for High Standards Not High Stakes released its first advertisement for the Yes on 2 campaign, reinforcing calls from students, teachers and parents to replace the harmful MCAS graduation requirement that gives too much power to a one-size-fits-all standardized test.

“True learning can’t be reduced to a multiple choice question on a high-stakes test,” said Deb McCarthy, a K-12 teacher of 25 years and Vice President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. “Voters have an important opportunity to stand up for the quality of education by replacing the MCAS graduation requirement this November. We’re excited to add on to our robust ground campaign and diverse coalition with this new ad urging Bay Staters to uphold our high education standards and ‘Say Yes’ on Question 2.”

The 30 second spot, Say Yes, will begin airing Tuesday, August 27 in a $250,000 digital TV buy on OTT platforms across the commonwealth.

This ad kicks off the Yes on 2 campaign’s larger paid advertising efforts, which is an anticipated 8-figure buy spanning broadcast and digital media through November.
