CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE: Yes on 2 Debuts First Broadcast TV Ad “Future First”
25 September 2024
The 30 second spot kicks off an 8-figure advertising campaign, beginning in the Boston media market this week and running through Election Day
BOSTON (September 25, 2024) Today, the Committee for High Standards Not High Stakes released its first broadcast TV ad for the Yes on 2 campaign. “Future First” features 9th Grade World History teacher Traci Kerns from Waltham, Mass. addressing the harmful impact that the MCAS graduation requirement has on individualized learning and future success of students.
“A one-size-fits-all standardized test can’t measure a student’s likelihood of success after graduation, it just measures who’s good at taking the test,” said Deb McCarthy, a K-12 teacher of 25 years and Vice President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. “The MCAS graduation requirement puts too much emphasis on a single test, forcing teachers, like Traci, to teach test-taking skills instead of infusing critical thinking and individualized learning into classrooms. Voting Yes on Question 2 means teachers can be accountable for teaching all students, exactly as they need it.”
The 30 second spot will begin airing Wednesday, September 24 in the Boston market, kicking off the planned 8-figure advertising effort that builds on the Yes on 2 digital ads that have run statewide since August.
