Removing the MCAS requirement

[Worcester] City Council also unanimously supported a resolution from Mayor Joseph M. Petty that put the council on record as supporting Question 2 on the state ballot in November.

The ballot question would remove the MCAS exam graduation requirement and instead have districts certify that students have satisfactorily completed coursework consistent with state standards in order to graduate.

The vote comes after the School Committee voted in favor of a similar petition from the Educational Association of Worcester Thursday.
